Private piano and music theory lessons for everyone from beginners to more advanced students looking to deepen their understanding of music. Build confidence at the piano, develop strong technical foundations, and learn to listen more closely and understand how and why music works.

Lessons are available for piano and music theory exam preparation, or simply for the enjoyment of learning and making music.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe everyone has the capacity not only to become a strong musician, but also to enjoy the process of becoming one. Too often, I hear from people who gave up playing because practicing and competing became a chore—or people with a genuine passion for music who wish they had been given the opportunity to develop it more fully.

It can sometimes seem as though achieving a high standard has to come at the expense of enthusiasm and curiosity. I don't believe it does. Students can be challenged to do their best while still developing a genuine love and understanding of music.

Every student learns differently and responds to different kinds of guidance. I believe a good teacher recognizes where each student is starting from, meets them where they’re at, plays to their strengths, and finds ways to make learning meaningful to them.

My goal is to listen to my students, communicate with them as individuals, and help them develop both strong musical skills and a lasting curiosity about music. When students enjoy what they're learning and understand music at a deeper level, they are more motivated to practice, improve, and achieve their goals.
